Trekking at Pedra do Telégrafo
A guided hike to the summit of Pedra do Telégrafo, famous for its dramatic “hanging on the rock” photo illusion. The experience offers beautiful views of Guaratiba’s wild beaches, light hiking, and stops at nearby untouched beaches, blending adventure, nature, and one of Rio’s most popular photo spots.

If you live in Rio de Janeiro and use social media, you have probably seen a picture where people appear to be dangerously hanging off a rock ledge into what looks like an enormous drop below.
Luckily, the drop is actually very small, and the dangerous looks are all about perspectives. Welcome to Pedra do Telégrafo.
The hike to the summit takes about 1 hour and is relatively easy. You will need at least a 1-hour drive to arrive at the area, which is also known for hosting some of the wildest beaches of Rio de Janeiro.
Before driving you back to the hotel, our guide will stop at one of the nearby wild beaches for pictures.

Tour Info:
- Duration: 5–6 hours
- Recommendation: Bring light clothes, hiking shoes, backpack, insect repellent, water, and snacks
- On weekends, holidays, and high season, the lines to take the “famous picture” can be very long (1 to 3 hours wait). If you are doing this hike especially to take the picture, we recommend this tour on weekdays.
